MM, how long is a piece of string?
Once you check out as a S/O you'll do about 1000-1100 credit hours per annum at about $60 per hour. Don't think too much about the allowances as they vary by trip length, port etc. One year I got $18K, another year I got $9K. A percentage may be taxed and you do actually spend a fair bit out and about o/s. Overtime will also weigh into the equation as well so that is a little hard to factor. 744 S/Os may do anywhere between 100 and 250 hours of o/t for the year depending on where they are flying, length of sector, etc.
Pay rises for years of service go up by about 3-5% per annum depending on aircraft type and rank. The years of service only increases to year 12 from memory.
Lets just say that is a satisfactory wage considering the crap that most (but not me luckily and I'm forever grateful) aspiring QF pilots go through.
