Thanks for that, Scottish PPL - my friend who made the video will be grateful for those kind words and thanks to SteveR for hosting the video (I only had to fly the aircraft!!).

I know EDI ATC don't like me saying this, but they're the nicest bunch of people you could wish to meet and absolute pussy cats when it comes to giving you clearances (wherever possible). Considering that they have 6 or 7 places within (or on the borders of) the zone from which the sin of aviation is regularly committed (including Airliners, Helos, F/W, Microlights and Gliders), all requesting routing in every which way, plus a reasonably heavy schedule of IFR traffic, the reception to a request for clearance has always been with the attitude of 'If we can reasonably give you the clearance, you'll get it if you ask nicely and don't mind holding on a couple of minutes'. Routing over the Bridges, over the City, over the Ski Slope, through the overhead - very rarely refused in my experience. Scottish Info are always also very helpful.
